The City Council did not get to the 2010 Comprehensive Map Amendments during their last meeting on June 8th, so they discussed it at this meeting. The Board did not attend, as it provided comments during the June 8th meeting.
After discussing the Roosevelt Road map amendment (CPA2010C) they voted to move forward with the rezone, citing that traffic impact is not a reason to rezone. There were concerns about providing services in less dense areas and the costs associated with that. Council members Rodriguez and Cudabeck voted in opposition to this motion.
Similarily, the Roosevelt Ridge map amendment (CPA2010D) was also voted to move forward with a rezone despite the Planning Commission’s recommendations and comments from citizens to not move forward at this point. One of the council members stated that the City will be looking to annex this area next year and having a plan in place for the residents by rezoning would be ideal. Council members Rodriguez and Cudabeck voted against the motion to move forward with adding Roosevelt Ridge into the comprehensive map amendments.
